Pupil Premium Statement

Pupil Premium Statement

Schools receive additional funding for the following pupils:

    • Pupils who are eligible for free school meals or who have been eligible during the last six years
    • Pupils who are or who have been looked after by the local authority or who are in care
    • Pupils from families where a parent serves in the armed forces.

This money is known as Pupil Premium (PP). Schools are charged with using Pupil Premium funding to ‘close the gap’ between the attainment of those children from disadvantaged backgrounds and those living in families with incomes above the low-income threshold.

If parents feel that their child may be entitled to Free School Meals and therefore Pupil Premium funding then please contact the school office for the relevant forms.

Aims

The school aims to use Pupil Premium funding to ensure that children in receipt of the funding:

  • Receive quality first teaching alongside all pupils in school
  • Receive support to be in a position of social and emotional readiness to learn
  • Receive support to achieve well academically
  • Have access to extra-curricular activities
  • Receive support for the purchase of School Uniform and for school trips/visits

‚Äč
Great Kingshill Combined School publishes the 3 year Pupil Premium Strategy Statement online annually. This is reviewed at the end of each academic year but there is also regular evaluation throughout the year. This Strategy Statement aims to detail information on how Pupil Premium has been used within school. Details are included on approaches used to ‘close the gap’. The expenditures will also be listed as part of the Strategy Statement and review. Regular updates will be presented on the progress of pupils supported by Pupil Premium to the Governing Body by the Lead PP teacher, SLT and/or the Headteacher. The Pupil Premium Strategy Statement will be a working document used in school throughout the year. The Strategy Statement has implicit links to curriculum areas; particularly English and Early Language Development and also to SEN and Inclusion.
